A man named Thomas M. McCorry was recently arrested in upstate New York and charged for sending threats to people under the assumed name of an apparently fake law-enforcement official, a one “Investigator Richard Harder.” Or as he’s presumably known around the (apparently fake) precinct, Detective Dick Harder.
With all due respect to the victims, that’s an objectively hilarious nom de crimes. But as much as your fearless Fingers editor loves weird, off-color gossip, the boozeletter had no angle on McCorry’s alleged criminal impersonation until Wednesday, when one of the beer industry’s most-trusted trade outlets reported that Investigator Richard Harder was one in the same with a financial executive at one of the hottest corporations in the American beverage-alcohol industry. I… uh… well, let’s just get into it, folks.
