Missing Fingers in your inbox? Check your promotions tab!
A housekeeping email I sent out to subscribers who have never opened a boozeletter edition.
Sent via email to Fingers subscribers who as of 2/24/21 had never opened an email:
Friends & readers:
Hi! My name is Dave Infante, and I'm an independent journalist in Charleston, SC. If you're reading this email, it's because somewhere along the way, you subscribed to FINGERS, my independent email newsletter about drinking culture, being online, and beyond... but according to my dashboard, you've never opened an email.
I've run into this problem with several readers, who complain that they sign up but then never receive my newsletters (which go out around once a week.) The answer is almost always that Fingers emails are winding up in their Gmail "Promotions" tab.
If you have the Gmail Promotions tab set up, check it now for my newsletters. If they're there, and you want them to go to your "Primary" inbox instead, do these two things:
Add me to your email's address book or contacts list.
While viewing one of my newsletters, click the "Labels" icon found at the top of Gmail and uncheck the "Promotions" box to transfer the email from the Promotions folder to the Primary one.
This should ensure my emails start showing up in your Primary tab moving forward. Remember, you can always read all my work for free at fingers.substack.com, too.
(And if you don't want to receive Fingers emails any more, or never did in the first place... well, that's a bummer, but then there's really no action required from you here. Carry on!)
Sorry for the additional email. I appreciate your readership, and hope this helps you get more editions of Fingers with less hassle in the future!
Dave.
